IELTS Vocabulary - CAUSE and EFFECT

This range of vocabulary will help your speaking and more importantly your writing. The vocabulary may be easy but using it correctly and effectively or as in the IELTS band descriptors states using the vocabulary "precisely" will increase your band score in the respective category.

OUTCOME
the final result of an activity or process
The Chinese government announced that they will be removing old vehicles from their roads in order to improve air quality, but some argue that the outcome will be the same as it is today.
REPERCUSSION
the effect that an action, event, or decision has on something, especially a bad effect
If a country's main sector is tourism and the country experiences a decline in the numbers of tourists visiting country this would have serious repercussions for the local and national economy of the country.
CHAIN REACTION
A chain reaction is a series of events which causes the next
The chemical immediately ignited when it came into contact with the air and set off a chain reaction of explosions.
AFFECT
To cause a person or thing to change in some way
With the storm hitting the western coast of the country affecting thousands of people living in the region.
